Section Detail
Cross Section through typical construction buildup
The 200mm EcoBox wall system is a highly efficient timber frame solution that offers an excellent balance between thermal performance, buildability and material efficiency. Built around the engineered EcoBox stud, the system combines structure and insulation within a single coordinated assembly, reducing thermal bridging and improving overall wall performance compared to conventional solid timber stud construction.
The increased depth of the structural zone allows greater levels of insulation to be incorporated within the panel, improving thermal performance while maintaining a simple and robust wall build-up. This enables the majority of the insulation to be contained within the timber frame itself, reducing reliance on additional insulation layers and simplifying construction on site.
When specified with blown woodfibre insulation, the 200mm EcoBox system can achieve U-values of approximately 0.18 W/m²K, comfortably exceeding the performance requirements of the notional dwelling under Approved Document Part L. This provides designers and clients with a straightforward route to compliance while delivering lower energy demand, improved comfort and enhanced long-term building performance.
